I get friend requests of high schoolers and ex javelin throwers congratulating me on such a big throw, I have gotten the support from all my friends and family. Pictures are being taken of me, interviews every week, and on top of that I can find my name being talked about in javelin and throwing forums all over the internet.

I am not bragging about this. This is all new to me. Don’t get me wrong its flattering, but yesterday I was just a normal person that no one knew anything about. And after the pepsi invite (4/4/2009) I am the person know one knows anything about but someone that a lot of people are interested in. it’s a bit overwhelming but I don’t want to stop throwing far so I better get used to it.

So I just kind of wanted to write a blog about myself and let people figure out where I am coming from. And how I got to where I am. I am a pretty detailed blogger so sorry in advance for the length. Probably only 10 people are going to read this anyway but hey at least 10 people might learn something about me.

I will start out from the beginning and keep it brief and get more in detail as I go.

Early years

I was born august 8th 1986 in Wilsonville Oregon.  Lived in Wilsonville for 10 years in a mobile home park with a Christian family. We then moved to Newberg, Oregon about 12 miles away. I always loved to play sports, I played football basketball and baseball. Finally my senior year of high school (2005) I was recruited to the track for my speed but got popularity for my throwing arm in the javelin. Ended my first year as a 205’2” javelin thrower (62.55m)

College

Signed to Weber State University in Ogden Utah, I never felt quite accepted there; I redshirted my freshman year and got injured with micro tears in my elbow. Diagnosed with 6-8 weeks of rest and then to start a rehab program, but I was done with school at Weber State 6-8 weeks later. I ended my ties at Weber State University, and headed back to Oregon.

Lane Community College

Came to Lane Community College in Eugene Oregon so that I could get good grades, have school be cheap (because my parents do not help me financially) play college basketball and do track as well. Played on the basketball team while in my first year at Lane CC, and then 10 months after my injury I started throwing again. It hurt every time I threw. It was hard to rehab it back to good shape. Almost ended my first year at Lane without throwing over 190 feet but in my last meet I finally got a personal best for the first time in almost 2 years throwing 208’6”

In my second year I had a big year. God gave me the ability to throw and I hope that I can represent a good Christian and be a good person on the track. All the glory goes to god, because he gave me this ability. Over the course of the year I trained as a decathlete, running jumping and throwing all events, making me a well rounded athlete. Over the course of the year I had my ups and downs but I had a big year overall and had a person best of 241’7” a huge 33ft PR

University of Oregon

I got very lucky to be able to come to the University of Oregon, we have all the facilities that one could dream of, we have all the coaching that I could ever dream of. There is so much at my fingertips that I don’t know what kind of a limit you can put on someone. After 3 weeks of this year I have throw 272’10” with my last throw being a personal best by 27.5ft (8 meters). I don’t know what else I can do; I have already superseded all my goals for the year. To think that 2 years ago I was a 208’6” thrower and today I am one of the best in the world is like a dream. I don’t know how it can be true. It’s overwhelming.  It’s hard to believe, but I have a lot of support from so many people that I can’t wait to see what happens this year. And the good news is I still have next year to get better as a collegiate thrower.

hopefully there is more to come this year. i will try to stay healthy, throw far, and i will always praise God for giving me the ability to throw.
